It’s the Freakin’ Weekend, Harrisburg!!

So it’s Friday, and here’s what we got:

FRIDAY, AUGUST 3rd

-Duck out of work a bit early, grab the kids, and head downtown for the Dauphin County Cultural Fest.  Highlights include Irish dancers, the Imani African Dance Troupe, and a Jimi Hendrix tribute band.  This FREE event is hosted on the 100 block of Market Street and runs 4:30-10 p.m.

-Continuing the celebration of our town’s arts and culture is the Jump Street Writer’s Wordshop event:  African American Storytelling Hour.  This family friendly event is free, provides refreshments, and runs from 7-9 p.m.

-Indie folks should make their way to the Sycamore House for a whole bunch of fun indie bands.  There’s a suggested $3 donation that supports Allison Hill’s Recycle Bicycle.  Doors at 8 p.m.

-When you’re ready to shake what the good lord gave ya, take your 5$pot to HMAC for the monthly get down hosted by Aortic Valve.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 4th

-If you closed out the bars, you could probably use a little pick me up.  That can be found at Little Amps, where Tree Cover is hosting Flower Garden and Indian Burn.  Green and Muench will be the stage, and the music starts at noon.

-If you’re feeling like exploring Central PA, the Renaissance Faire kicks off this weekend in Lancaster County.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 5th

-Honestly, just get on the breeches.  I’ll be there, as well the rest of us with a tube and a desire to chill.
